MARKOM Microwaves manufactures waveguides and waveguide components compliant with the WR340 / R26 / WG9A standard. The key parameters listed below depend on the material, waveguide filling (e.g. SF6 gas), matching (VSWR), and operating conditions:
- operating band: S (IEEE) / E (NATO)
- frequency range: 2200–3300 MHz (2.2–3.3 GHz)
- waveguide attenuation: 0.01–0.04 dB/m
- flange attenuation: 0.1 dB
- peak power capability: up to 100 MW
- average power capability: up to 16 kW
- operating pressure for SF6: < 3 bar
- internal dimensions: 86.36 × 43.18 mm
- wall thickness: 2.03–6.35 mm
Waveguide section length, flange type, material, and surface finish are selected based on the individual order. Typical waveguide applications include industrial equipment for drying, heating, and chemical process support, scientific applications and plasma systems, linear accelerators (LINAC), and synchrotrons.
Examples of completed projects are available on the Projects page.
WR340 Straight Waveguide

The fundamental element of a waveguide assembly. Straight sections are manufactured in lengths from 100 to 2000 mm. Length tolerance ±1 mm. For special orders, tolerance ±0.1 mm is available. The standard material is aluminium (AW-6061); other materials such as copper Cu-ETP and OFC are available on request.
Sections can be fitted with flanges of the following types: CPRF26, CPRG26, FDP26, FDM26. Aluminium flanges (AW-6082) are used for aluminium waveguides. Brass (MO58) or stainless steel (316L) flanges are used for copper waveguides.
Viton gaskets are used with CPRG26 and FDM26 flanges. Conductive silicone gaskets are available on request. Both materials provide thermal resistance across the full operating temperature range of the waveguide and hermetic sealing.
Internal surfaces of aluminium waveguides can be left untreated, coated with SurTec 650, or chromated. The interior of copper waveguides can be left untreated or silver-plated. The external surface of the waveguide and flanges is left untreated (ground finish) or powder-coated.
Full specifications are given in the datasheets: | Al | Cu | OFC |
WR340 E-Bend and H-Bend Waveguide

When the microwave path requires a change of direction, E-plane or H-plane bent waveguides are used. An H-plane bend changes direction in the horizontal plane (left/right); an E-plane bend changes direction in the vertical plane (up/down).
Standard bend angles are 30, 45, and 90 degrees. Custom angles from 0 to 90 degrees are available on request. Bend tolerance ±1 degree.
The standard material is aluminium (AW-6061); copper (Cu-ETP) is available on request. Aluminium flanges (AW-6082) are used for aluminium waveguides. Stainless steel flanges (316L) are used for copper waveguides.
Available flange types: CPRF26, CPRG26, FDP26, FDM26. Viton gaskets are standard; conductive silicone gaskets are available on request. Gaskets provide thermal resistance and hermetic sealing.
Internal surfaces of aluminium waveguides can be left untreated, coated with SurTec 650, or chromated. The interior of copper waveguides can be left untreated or silver-plated. The external surface of waveguides and flanges is left untreated (ground finish) or powder-coated.
WR340 Launcher

The launcher is a short section of waveguide to which the microwave magnetron is attached. It connects the magnetron to the waveguide assembly and is responsible for efficient transfer of microwave energy. MARKOM manufactures launchers for CW magnetrons rated at 1.5 / 3 / 6 / 10 kW.
The geometry, dimensions, and material of the launcher are matched to the magnetron power, type, and application. The standard material is aluminium (AW-6082); stainless steel (316L) is available on special order.
The standard flange is CPRF26 (no gasket). Other flange types are available on request. Additional flange sealing is also available, protecting the waveguide interior from contamination and microwave leakage.
The launcher interior can be left untreated, coated with SurTec 650, or chromated. The external surface is left untreated (ground finish) or powder-coated.
WR340 Waveguide Window

A component that separates two environments while maintaining continuity of the microwave path. Used to maintain vacuum or insulating gas (SF6, nitrogen, dry air) in the waveguide, isolate a chemically aggressive process chamber, or protect the system from the external environment.
Applications include plasma torches (low-pressure plasma generation systems), vacuum dryers (for drying temperature-sensitive products), chemical reactors (supporting production processes or research), and controlled-atmosphere chambers (providing defined process conditions).
MARKOM waveguide windows are hermetically sealed across a pressure range from 1×10⁻³ mbar to 2 bar, operate at temperatures from −30 to +150°C, and handle microwave power up to 6 kW. Compatible with WR340 standard waveguides.
Flange material is aluminium (AW-6082); stainless steel (316L) is available on request. The barrier is made of quartz glass (high-purity fused silica). Gaskets are made of Viton (fluoroelastomer), providing high chemical and thermal resistance.
Full specifications are given in the Datasheet.
Coupler WR340 with VSWR Meter

VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) indicates the impedance match between the waveguide assembly and the process chamber. Monitoring VSWR allows assessment of the system's energy efficiency and measurement of reflected power, reducing the risk of magnetron failure.
MARKOM offers a complete set: a waveguide dual directional coupler with precision sampling probes and an analogue meter. The set enables simultaneous measurement of forward and reflected power.
Construction:
- Power measurement range: up to 3 kW, readout resolution 100 W
- Waveguide and flange type: WR340 or WR430
- Readout: analogue meter
- Cables connecting coupler to meter: coaxial, 1 m length
